Default 4l80e no Reverse, wont shift

This is a swap into my "77 C30 behind an LQ4.

Fresh 4l80e (but it sat in my shop for over a year with no fluid in it) new Hughes converter, new aftermarket cooler and lines. Appears to be full of fluid (approx 15 qts, total).

Had reverse the first time I tried it (3 weeks ago) but had ECM (cooling fan) issues and just got it back today. Reverse was slipping then but I chalked it up to being low on fluid and haven't tried it again until today. Now has NO Reverse (doesn't even try).

Also doesn't shift at all. Appears to be starting off in 2nd gear. Throwing P2761, P0753, P0758 and P0650. See pics.

Welcome to the rebuild a fresh rebuild due to low fluid club.

Pull it out and pay someone to fix it.

It was a quart low at worst. It may still need to be redone but I doubt a lack of fluid did it.

If it was low enough to slip, it was low on fluid.

Slippage creates immense heat immediately on whats essentialy paper based friction material.

Heat kills it immediately.

It may have other problems but running ANY automatic trans with low fluid causes instant damage. It can't be overstated.

The fluids primary job is not for lube, its for pressure.

Duly noted. Got the shifting in FWD gears resolved. Still no reverse though.
