4l60e shifter linkage issues.

I'm guessing that's about an inch...the cable should not ever need an inch of adjustment
Make sure the shifter in the car is in park, and make sure the lever on the trans is installed in the proper orientation and it's also in park.
I've never seen one trans to the next that needs a cable adjsutment if it was a 60 to a 60 or an 80 to an 80 etc
p.s. would also be good if you listed your vehicle, your trans, etc. If you want help with your specific problem...list your specific situation
-make sure the gear selector is in park and the manual valve lever is rotated clock-wise as far as possible towards the bell-housing (park position).
-or give us more info.

I didnt have a measuring tape. Car is a 1998 camaro , 4l60e. Stock shifter. I tried having the shifter in park. And trans bracket all the foward to the radiator and still short maybe half an inch? Give or take. I managed to take off the plastic clip that the link shows. The one that let's the adjuster go back and forward, and basically the spring compresses but wont come back out. If that makes any sense.
1998 camaro , with a 4l60e. Same trans that came out is going back in. I did kind of a rookie mistake and had put the transmission bracket piece all the way back to I'm assuming 1st gear? And car rolled forward.
Bracket not on properly, lever not on properly, etc.
If it came out...there's no reason for it not to go back in other than you messed something up.
I know that's not very "constructive" but there's not alot to be constructive about here...you have a writeup that you linked that shows how to adjust...you know what wd40 is to lube it up if it's stuck, you have a computer to find a local parts store if you need a new cable because yours is old and busted. There's just not much anybody can do for ya behind a computer screen here a hundred miles away.

That's what I'm thinking , I've never had this issue , im thinking it's the cable itself , but it doesnt seemed stretched. I'll go to the parts store see how much they got a new one for. Thanks for the responses.
