Default 02 2500 4wd to 2wd?

I found a 02 chevy 2500 6.0 4l80e 4wd . I can get for dirt cheap with a junk t-case. Keep in mind this is really just a donor vehicle that i might drive awhile until i find the swapee. I could find a used t-case and put it in no problem. Or i thought i could get a 2wd 4l80e and put in the truck as the swapee will be 2wd. Has anyone done this. i could use a factory 2wd driveshaft and cross member i think. Not sure on the computer stuff. anyone have any input or advice?

I just want to make sure that I have read and followed your post correctly.

You wish to purchase a 2002 K truck with a bad Transfer-Case of some sort...

Do you know what aspect/ function of the Transfer-Case is inoperable/ malfunctioning?
Do you know what model Transfer-Case is involved...
Or better yet; any idea what is actually wrong with it?

Does the vehicle not move under it's own power at all???
Or does one the the 4x4 gear ranges not operate (Meaning the two-wheel drive range only operates)?

Then, I think you are contemplating removing the original Transmission, Transfer-Case, and both drive-shafts...
Throw-in a two-wheel drive 4L80E with corresponding drive-shaft...
BUT leave the front Differential and corresponding control-systems in-place?

Depending on the original Transfer-Case model and front Differential model... It could work.

I am curious to hear what is in the truck and what more you are thinking...

You under stood my gibberish very well. Now as far as the transfer case have no clue which one it is. Its a weird deal. Originally they wanted too much, so i didnt even check the truck out. Now they basically " want it out of their yard" lol. Gonna go back and actually check it out this weekend and I will know more.
