can I run modulator valve on a 1984 thinking 400 trans modulator sets in very back of tranny detent cable broke can I just block off n if and what would be required to make shift.

detent cable just changes the downshift timing with added throttle.
Helps get into "passing gear" when needed.
you can block detent and use mod valve and it will work like normal, except 3-2 downshifts may require much more throttle than normal. OR you can just move the shifter down a position if you need passing gear.
