Default 2007 E38/T42 4L60E to run a 6L80E? What's needed?

Note-- this is all in a 1970 Cutlass, so everything is standalone/no BCM, etc.

I have an LS3 powered by an 2007 E38 PCM with a matching 2007 T42 TCM running/wired to a 4L60E.

From the research I've done, it looks like the 6L80E's computer in inside itself, so this means the T42 and wiring would go away (correct?)
Would I simply then just get a 6L80E pigtail connector and using wiring pin outs, wire it to the E38? and then just flash the E38 to run 6L80E?

Also, does the year of 6L80E matter? are the Corvette ones different from the truck ones?

Thanks so much for the help.
