Default Starter teeth grinding!?

70 Chevelle

New 6.0 build, LS7 crank, 4.030, Heads, Cam, LSA blower, 4L80- everything is new.

New Starter is ACDelco 3371131

New flywheel is ATP Z-270 14” 168 tooth

using ARP bolts

im not using shims but the bendix is engaging and turnning the motor over but it is making a terrible intermittent sound. I recorded it and you can see shavings, no teeth are broken. What should I do?

is it uncommon to need shims or do i need to put a spacer in?
