Th400 or powerglide? I want to start buying parts to have a trans built for me but I’m not sure which direction to go. I’m trying to be as budget minded as possible. I have a gen 4 6.0 with 88mm vs racing turbo. 04 mustang that is for 1/8th mike racing only. My goal for power is anything above 900hp. Which trans will be best for a setup like this? Which parts should I start buying to piece together a trans that will hold up to my goals? I haven’t decided where I’ll be taking it to get built and I don’t have 4 or 5 grand to drop on it when I take it to the shop. Hence why I want to accumulate the must have parts right now.
Since you are 1/8 racing only I would go the Powerglide route, lighter, less HP to operate, and less moving parts to have a possible issue with. And building one to hold your power level definitely won't break the bank. A key factor here will be converter choice as well. Make sure you get a quality custom spec'd converter for your setup.
