ProperTrans control module for my 4l80e I am swapping 6.0 and 4l80e into my squarebody I have donor harness from engine but have trans of unknown origins. I’m told it’s a 2001 vintage . I have no trans control module .... what can I do? Please point me in the right direction. GM ?aftermarket ? etc?
the 4l80e does not require a separate transmission control module. It's pretty low tech as far as the electronics are concerned (well, as compared to the modern 6/8/10 speeds)
MM is absolutely correct. Your 2001 harness and PCM (powertrain control module i.e. engine and transmission) will control your 6.0 and 80e just fine
look in the PCM and wiring section for guidance. Lt1swaps.com is also a great place to educate yourself about the different computers/years/compatibilities and if you choose, how to modify the harness yourself

Something that could get you confused is that in some models (diesel, I believe), the trans was indeed controlled by its own module. That is not the way most of them are controlled, though, so indeed, one PCM it is.
