Default Connect and Cruise 4L70E problems Need opinions

Need to see if anyone else had these issues or can offer any opinions........ I bought a GM Connect and Cruise LS3 / 4L70e assembly that was being installed in a 66 Chevelle...... In the install process, I added about three quarts of fluid in the converter, installed the converter and keyed it into the pump in the trans........ Mated the trans to the engine assy without any issues.... minimal gap between the flex-plate and the converter when bolting the two together... after installing the engine/trans assy in the car I added about 5 more quarts of fluid....Now the car has been sitting for months waiting for the Hydra-Boost system to show up....... During that time I got everything else installed and hooked up.......Without the Hydra boost I didn't want to run the engine without the power steering pump hooked up and being dry...... so, I got tired of waiting and hit the key and it started immediately....... shut it off after a couple of seconds....So, at this time there was about 7-8 quarts of trans fluid in the trans..... I started it again for a couple of seconds and put the car in gear and nothing....... Added another 4 quarts (about 12 now with 14 required according to the spec's) started it again and the wheels turned but there wasn't any feeling of engagement, stepped on the gas a little and the tires didn't seem to speed up at all.....put the car from reverse to drive and the tires still went in reverse ????????........Hummm!!!!!....... shut it off and added a couple more quarts thinking it needed more fluid and I looked under the car and fluid all over......Started it again and again no feeling of engagement...... I shut it off and pulled the driveshaft out and about a gallon of fluid drained out into a oil change pan......... Hummm...... Seems to me the pump is not working........ Any thoughts ??????..... I've done 6 or 7 of these installs and never had any issues before..... Hummm !!!!

Thanks in Advance
Ken

Refill the trans with fluid, disconnect a cooler line, start the engine and see if it is pumping fluid from the disconnected line.

How long did it take you to slowly fill, and fill, and fill the Torque-Converter to get 3 FULL quarts of ATF inside?

What was the measurement for the spacing of the Flex-Plate to Torque-Converter mounting-pads?
You need to have a 1/16" to 3/16" spacing.

It sounds as if the vehicle is off of the ground... or at least the rear tires are off of the ground.
You must be careful when engaging the Transmission and/ or shifting the Transmission.

You ESPECIALLY do NOT want to shift from forward to reverse or from reverse to forward when the wheels are suspended...
unless taking special care to monitor the rear wheels and endure that they are not rotating.
Should you need to do so... then you must use the brakes and bring the wheels to a complete STOP before changing gears.
Internal damage to the Transmission may occur if not following these instructions.

Installing a rebuilt Transmission that has not been used yet...
Will require filling with ATF as you did, but you must also move the gear selector through all positions in order for all the circuits to be filled.
This will need to be done before starting the engine. If this was done properly the ATF level will have gone down now.
Continue filling the ATF and repeat this all again to try and get all sections of the Transmission filled with ATF.

After a good volume of ATF has been pored into the Transmission, the engine maybe briefly started and stopped to recheck the ATF level.
Note: If the ATF is only pored in, without ever moving the gear-selector positions...
You may over-fill the area above the oil-pan and have ATF come out of the Vent-Hose towards the top of the Transmission Case.
I am hoping this is what you did...

Hopefully there is no real damage...
Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Remove the oil-pan and inspect the pan and fluid for metal debris.

In retrospect I don't remember how much fluid I put in the converter but it was according to the instructions....... Been a while.....

It takes awhile just to get a quart in.
