You mentioned you changed bushings. Is the direct drum bushing the wide version? If you set that bushing in to deep it won't let the drum sit properly on the stator and if not deep enough it will hit the bearing lip in the forward drum. What was your input shaft end play set at?

Put in same position as old one, I don’t believe it’s the wide one, I’m not really familiar with these trans

That's the stock width bushing, it looks good. The last build errors to check that keeps the direct drum locked stationary is your intermediate band servo set up and your end play. The intermediate servo if set up wrong can keep the band applied on the drum. The last place to look at is if you have zero end play, you should be able to spin both input and output shafts in both directions. .

Well put it all back together with new B&M shift kit using the valve body from the original transmission and she has all gears. Still a little funky going into third but I think the modulator just needs adjusting.
The shift kits did have quite a few differences but I think the real issue was the valve body, someone must have done something to it, to me it just looks like valves and springs but who knows.

Every time put the valve body on before the pump to make sure band was good. Input shaft end play was always around .039-.040”
