I'm looking for TC stall speed recommendations. My setup is a '89 Mustang with 6.0L/4L80e. motor has valve springs and Elgin 1840P cam (.585 lift 283/286). My plans are eventually to go turbo (500ish WHP). I'm going to drive the car often so i'm looking for something "tight." However, I want something that will perform at the track.

call Yank and they can get you going in the right direction.
in my limited knowledge about TQ converters tight and all motor dont mix well.

 

I would also contact FTI they are very active in this forum and make a great converter. I purchased a Yank converter 2 months ago and it took a little over 5 weeks for it to come in. You may want to ask about delivery time when ordering.

madmike9396 is correct it will be hard to get a converter that is optimal for both NA and boost.

 

Thanks guys. I want a stall speed that'll suit a FI setup as that's the route i'm going. I'll reach out to the FTI but in the meantime i'd appreciate feedback from whoever is willing to chime in.

FTI told me they had a 1 month lead time when I called a week or two ago

 

We are still about 4 weeks out on new builds due to higher than normal demand and we are still fighting COVID related supply issues.

@OP we could spec a converter for your planned boosted setup and while the engine is making less power it will also be tighter. Feel free to reach out if you want discuss options.
