PSA - 4L60E w/2-3 & reverse Shift problem & Teminator X max
In the just finished lets try this out stage on my Jeep Wrangler that now sports a L33 with L59 Accessories, a 4l65E and a NP241 Transfer case.
On initial start it runs great, but when I tried driving it , it was not shifting nicely in to reverse, would often stall the engine, then in D it would start out in 1, shift to 2 and stop shifting. Spend a couple days rechecking things like the Fluid level, Checking the wiring harness, Checking Terminator settings about a million times. Finally decided to probe each conductor in the trans harness. Disconnected the transmission cable and while I was setting up a clamp to hold it so I could use hands to work the probes, noticed the connector seemed to be able to connect in two positions,, the dim bulb came on.. Reversed the connector..
Problem Solved! - The transmission connector on the terminator cable assembly is much softer than the GM one.
Turned out I had plugged it in 180 out.
The connector is "just" pliable enough that it will fully seat either direction.
It clicks when inserted the wrong way but its because the edge of the cable connector slips over a groove on the socket on the transmission. It will tug off in this position but hold on fairly well (Just enough to seem OK).
Once it was plugged in correctly everything worked great.
And in the correct position, its solidly connected, you'd do damage if you forced it off.
So that's my "duh" moment for the week.
Postscript,,
A aluminum 5.3 in Jeep wrangler turns out to be a fair amount of motor

Stock Corvette short exhaust manifolds into 2.5 Inch head pipes then to 2.5" Flowmaster cats, to a 2.5-3" Y then in to a Long Flowmaster 70 that's dumping right in front of the axle right now. Barely fits. all stainless as far as the muffler. Sounds amazing. Will be long trip drive-able once I get the tail pipe on.. Until them its in Hooligan mode, Legal, but not neighborhood friendly...
