Default th400 -clicking?

The th400 worked fine when removed, and all I did was installed a B&M 2nd stage shift kit, new filter, and a new torque convertor. Now it barleys moves and starts making a clicking noise when moved into gear. It doesn't make this noise with the engine running sitting in park or neutral, only when shifter in all other gears. What didn't I get right? I have 10 quarts of fluid in the transmission. This is my the first transmission I have attempted to do.

I think the used shifter that was sold to me is not a forward pattern, but a revise. Now that I have the rear end up, playing with the shifter slightly past 3rd gear, the noise go away and the wheels start moving as I would expect. When installing the shifter I only checked park and neutral for cable lever possession on the trans. I have a quick sliver shifter.

I still haven’t pulled the trans, using my scope these flex plate bolts don’t look tightened. What you think.
The clicking sounds sound external, so now thinking it the flex plate,
