4L60 Rebuild Reccomendations for Truck?
Good Morning guys,
I have a OBS 1500 RCSB, that i am doing a LS Swap and currently have a Cammed 5.3, FTI 3200 Converter 4l60 in my dakota, that i will be swapping over into the obs.
Dakota is getting a 4.8, and the stock 4l60 out of the obs.
My question is this. The goals for the truck is to do RMRW / Drag week, and maintain A/C and full amenities that i can.
I do plan on doing a turbo eventually, but maybe a T70 and goal of 600HP or so.
One of my Trans guys that works for GM recommends just rebuilding the 4l60, and just putting good parts in it. And spend the extra money for a better converter.
Or I've been told by a few friends to do a 4L80e build, and just save up until i can do a full rebuild on that to compensate for it.
What do you guys recommend? and Why?
I have done a bit of research on the forums, but nothing really involving trucks, mostly Fbodies, and such.
If you were to rebuild the 4l60 what parts would you go with?
4l80 the same.
Thanks in advance!

Are you asking about a 4L60E Transmission, or a 4L60 (THM700-R4) Transmission.
The 4L80E Transmission becomes the better/ more cost effective option in 3,000 Lbs - 4,000 Lbs Cars with 700+ HP.
At 600+ HP with the added weight of a C/K Series Truck...
The 4L80E is most likely the better option.
Both the 4L60 and 4L60E could be built to handle more power, but it will cost more (and overall be weaker) than a 4L80E.
