Default 2006 gto bell housing

Hi, I have a 4l65e trans behind a 6.0 out of a 06 gto that is going into a 1970 monte carlo. While looking at cast iron exhaust manifolds from summit, it stated that the manifolds would not clear the starter/bell housing on a 05/06 gto. Has anyone had this problem? What would be a good starter/bell housing to swap to? Would there be a truck starter/bell housing combo that would be more available? Any info would help.
thanks,
frank

The GTO uses a Mitsubishi starter that's a one-off in the world of LS parts. The motor is shifted higher on the mount than what would be found on your average truck or Fbody (the solenoid is also clocked differently). A truck or Fbody 4L60e bellhousing would be more common as it relates to exhaust and starter clearances.

Can you fit a truck starter onto a GTO bellhousing?

Why did they ever bother with a different starter on the GTOs to begin with?

As most of the last GTO enthusiasts know...
The GTO was a rebranded GM of Australia (Holden) Vehicle.

When these Cars were designed... they were never intended for a US Market.
Quite a lot of the Parts used in these Cars are unconventional compared to what is seen with actual US Market GM Vehicles.

Unfortunately, no you cannot, it's model specific.

Like vorteciroc said, it was an Australian built vehicle that was re-designed for left-hand drive. The GTO has a few unique things that are not interchangeable with other vehicles.

Thank you all for the input. Is there a specific year/model I should look for regarding the bell housing? I would need to replace the starter as well, what would be the most common one that would work with the new bell housing?
thanks,
frank
