I'm in the middle of putting an LS 6.0 (LQ4 based) into my 83 cutlass drag car. I'm trying to mate it up to my powerglide. I have the TCI 399753 kit. When I put the spacer on the snout of my existing converter I'm not able to slide the converter forward to bolt to the flexplate. My question is what is the standard below face snout length on a powerglide torque converter? Also what is the overall length/height of the converter from the end of the snout to the top of the hub? I've attached pick of the space between the converter and the flexplate without the snout adapter/extender on the converter. Like I said if I would put the snout extender on from the kit it would be further back and I would be able to slide the converter forward to bolt up. Help? Thanks in advance
Overall height can be made taller or shorter and often is in aftermarket converters. Factory height is 6.150-6.200.
Your issue is likely the slip on LS adapter is hitting the snout of the crank. Take the trans back out with the converter. remove the adapter on the converter. hold the converter against the flexplate where it would bolt up. Is the pilot engaging with the crank atleast an 1/8 of an inch? if so then you can leave the spacer off.
More photos of the converter, flexplate, adapter would also help us in determining the issue you have.

Thank you, you were spot on. Spacer not needed in this case.
