4L60 Budget repair
I've read and haven't found anything regarding this and I know it isn't recommended But, I have a 94 K1500 I just bought that has bad 3-4 clutches. Budget is really tight for repairs. I have most all of the internals from a 2000s 4l60 except the valvebody. The clutcpacks all look good along with the sunshell and planetaries. If I get a seal kit and install the used clutchpacks and whatever other of the used internals needed into my transmission will it work for any length of time to be worth the time to do it? I'm not offloading it or beating on it, just need a way to go on the weekends and evenings when needed. I have a company vehicle that I drive home but can't use it for any kind of personal use. I've been driving it a little just taking it easy in 1st and 2nd but if its possible to put new seals and good used clutches and whatever else and have 3-4 back it would be nice. Any advice and input is appreciated.
It will be less hassle and more effective to just rebuild the 94
you can do a hack job rebuild of the 94 if you want...but it will almost certainly end in heartache if you start mixing and matching parts without a full understanding of the year to year differences.
If you are so hard up for cash that you need to use the frictions and steels out of the 2000...they will physically fit.

Yeah I definitely understand its a hack job but I absolutely do not have the funds to spend on a proper rebuild. I know it will have to be done right sooner than later but for time being instead of running it in 2nd gear the thought crossed my mind to just spend a day and put new seals in it and the clutches I have to get by for a while. I've thought about it for a couple weeks and can't really think of anything it would physically damage to make a full rebuild more expensive than it would be right now.
There are multiple threads with a list of free modifications that can be done to the valve body as well to improve the life and performance of this trans.
Here are a couple things you can do to get more life out of this.
A. replace the burnt 3/4 clutches.
B. increase separator plate orifice sizing
C. increase the spring pressure in the AFL valve bore lineup.
When I said hack job, I did not mean it derogatory. I just meant it will be a bandaid or a partial repair rather than a proper rebuild.
If that is what you can afford right now, I wish you the best of luck

No offense was taken i promise. I know what I'm talking about is wrong and I would never let a customer talk me into anything like that but in this case I gotta do what I gotta to get by. If I wasn't capable of doing the work I wouldn't ask anyone to do it. I posted the question here because I've browsed this forum for years for info and I think there are great people here that I would get a fair answer from. I sincerely appreciate your time and advice
