4L60e no reverse after being in drive

99 Trans Am. Car sat for a couple years. I put a new shift cable cause the teeth/clip broke on the old one. I can go from park to reverse and the car will go into reverse but if I go into drive then back to reverse or park and back to reverse it will not go into reverse. I’ve adjusted the cable. TIA for any help

It sounds like the cable is moving in the bracket. Can you have someone move the shifter while you are under the car watching the cable and bracket.

It didnt look like the cable was moving in the bracket
