02 trans am adding trans cooler
I have a 2002 Trans Am with automatic transmission 4160 E I just bought a transmission cooler 40 K and I’m getting mixed answers can someone please tell me is it necessary to use The radiator in series with new cooler , I really want to use the new transmission cooler since it’s so large as the main source of cooling the transmission fluid I also have a temperature gauge on it so I can monitor from inside the vehicle I reside in New Jersey I really would like to use the new cooler to be the main source of cooling the transmissions fluid I will be mounting it behind the bumper and it measures 26“ x 6“ stacked I’m trying to avoid putting extra load of heat into the radiator people are saying you have to go through the radiator , with that type and size of cooler. Is it really necessary I will have a fan directly in front of it that will be thermostatically controlled if it needs extra airflow please advise if this method is OK not using the radiator in the loop at all thank you Awaiting your answers
