Jakes D3 Drivability?
Im going to build my 4L80e with a Jakes stage 2 and more than likely the D3 transbrake. My question is, with the D3 installed, does anyone have any experience with how the trans feels on the street under normal shifting. I know that the brake works as it should when used for what its intended for. But after watching the install videos and seeing all the O-rings removed and components modified, i wondered if there is any negative effect on drivability, or loss of street manners maybe. I understand its a performance product and you cant expect it to act like a bone stock 4L80e, I'm just curious what the reviews are from it being street driven. Thanks All!
you can make it shift soft or firm.
But...being a performance product, it will trend towards the performance side of the spectrum for shift feel.
The biggest difference is fixed line pressure. The brake will have much faster set, less likelihood to have issue, and will be more consistent with fixed line pressure. That alone will create shifts that are a little more firm at lower throttle.
I recommend fixed line but it can technically be had without fixed line
