2002 4L60E behind a SBC
I have a "built" 2002 4L60E sitting in the shop and I want to use a stroked SBC in front of it. Not a big HP number engine but a good amount of torque.
Which flex plate is needed for the 4L60E to SBC?
Also any opinions on the stand lone controllers for the 4L60E. Best and easiest to program?
The 4L60E "Electronics" differ, and are Model-Year Dependent (and in some cases Sub-Model Dependent)...
As well as physical/ Mechanical changes/ differences over the 1993 through 2013+ Production run.
The Breakdown is as follows:
4L60E productions runs for model year interchangeability are:
-1993 only
-1994 only
-1995 only
-1996 - 2000
-2001 - 2006
-2007 - 2008
-2009 - 2013/ 2014
Note: 4x4 4l60e units are not a direct swap with 2 wheel drive units...
Also different Engine Families use different:
-Bell-Housings.
-Flex-Plates.
-Flex-Plate to Crankshaft Flange Spacers.
-Torque-Converters.
-Pumps/ Stator Supports.
-Input-Shafts/ Turbine-Shafts.
Electronics differ...
The PCM, External Wiring, Internal Wiring (including Electrical Connectors) and Internal Components, all change/ differ.
All of which makes Swapping from different Applications more complicated than it needs to be.
That being said, making those Swaps are possible, and have been done TONs of times.
However, I would not bother with that type of swap.
The 4L60E/ 4L65E/ 4L70E/ 4L75E Transmission Family, is the MOST PRODUCED 4-Speed Automatic Over-Drive (RWD) Transmission EVER, in the WORLD!
So there are plenty out there, that are a Perfect Match for your Original Transmission.
Good Luck!
There is a difference between a 4L60E for a Gen-1 SBC...
And a 4L60E for a Gen-III/ IV SBC...
Different Engine Families; see My Quote above for Parts that differ between the Transmissions.
