Default How deep do I need to get into this 4L80E?

Hey Everyone,

I removed an LQ4 and 4L80E from a 2004 2wd 2500 silverado work truck. The transmission drove just fine in it when I took it out. The motor is getting ready now... LS9 cam, S480 turbo, deka 80lb inj, stock 317 heads, etc.

what can I do with this to get it to handle the power? I don't really feel like I need to bhild it to handle 1000hp, but ill be making significantly more than a stock LQ4. I read a few posts on junkyard 4L80 transmissions, but this was running fine and I drove it personally... so I wouldn't necessarily consider it a junkyard build.

I dont have a whole lot of experience with 4L80Es. What can I get by with doing to the trans without getting too deep into it for the power?

Going into a 74 camaro.

dual feed the direct, delete the 3/4 accumulators, bump the line pressure a general once over to make sure the sealing surfaces arent smoked (they often are)

Will I need to take the trans apart for that? Or can I get away with outer valve body stuff? Is there a write up anywhere where people have done this?

yes and no. the best way to dual feed it would require disassembly. transgo offers their HD2 kit that sort of accomplishes the same thing, but is done in a sandwich stacked separator plate that "rewires" the hydraulic circuit to do the same thing.

when I first got into turbo LS stuff thats what I did and sometimes the result was great. sometimes it turned out shitty. mushy, erratic shifts, short lifespan etc.

i became so frustrated trying to hold 750hp I went down the rabbit hole and now I build them for a living HA
