4l60e shifting problems after rebuild
We got it installed last night. We left the truck on jackstands and fired it up and shifted through the gears.
Reverse and overdrive both worked. Tires would spin at idle once the brake was released. Then we manually shift through the gears. 3rd and second were fine as well, but when we got to first the tires immediately stopped and the engine actually stalled. (It was running a bit rough and I think the sudden load stalled it). We put it in park and started it again and same thing, this time the engine didn’t stall but the tires stopped spinning as soon as we put in in manual 1st. All other forward gears they would spin just fine.
Took it off the jackstands and down the road.
Reverse is great.
in overdrive and drive it starts out in first and will not shift out of first.
manaul second it goes directly to 2nd gear and will not shift out of 2nd, even from a stop. If driving in second and move shifter to drive it immediately shifts to 1st.
while driving in first or second gear it feels strong, no slipping at all. The fluid level is correct.
here’s some more facts on the rebuild.
We used the kit from monster transmission.
The transmission we rebuilt is not the original one and I believe it has been rebuilt before. It’s a 1993 based on the stamp on the side. We bought it used and had put it in the truck and it went out after a couple thousand miles.
Any ideas where we should start looking?
