Default 4l60E separator plate 1st gear issue

Hey everyone,

I am new here but I'll try and be as descriptive and clear to the point as I can .

issue: stuck in first gear. I have park neutral reverse and first.

what I've done: tested solenoids checked my standalone. Thinking maybe a stuck 1-2 accumulator I pulled the pan and valve body inspected everything checked out.

what I did find was a worn separator plate and the check ball directly above the 1-2 spring rod solenoid body was stuck in the seperator plate.

my question is does this make the fluid to the valve body blocked off ?

Would this issue cause my stuck in first issue?

How does first to second shift work? Does it shift up when the check ball is in the seated position in the valve body or in the "open" position .

im not a trans guy just a dude trying to widen my knowledge base and save a buck at the same time.

stuck check ba lls in the separator plate is a common issue .....it is a bad thing
you need a new plate and use the plastic check ba lls instead of the metal ones
