Default Gold washer for 2-4 servo

So I currently added a gold washer as provided by my sk transgo shift kit and I have .120" of Band clearance, I can add another gold washer to bring it down to .060" as suggested in the forums. My question is that why are you guys opposed to using the gold washers? Isn't it the same thing as welding on the pin and lengthening it?
I have so much band clearance because my local trans shop resurfaced my drum.
also, anyone have part numbers for the 3 slit pin? Read that one is the longest gm makes.

sonnax makes an extra long servo pin, as a bonus it has extra teflon seals on it that were used in the early 700R4's. i believe most don't like the shims because it shortens the stroke of the servo pistons (remember it is also acts like an accumulator). kind of like stacking washers in the 1-2 accumulator.
