Just picked up a 2004 LS1 drop out motor from a C5 w/4L60e tranny. My previous C5 had a manual transmission, which I replaced the clutch on previously so I'm familiar with that. But on the back of the drop out LS1 that was an auto car, the flex plate has another steel plate added to it. Is this plate required because it mates up to the tq tube first? Can I take off the metal plate and reuse the C5 flex plate mated to a 4L60e an Fbody?
If you look at rock auto for a flex-plate on a 2004 Corvette it gives you 2 part numbers.
Part # 12654640 Base Model; Trans.Code 4L60-E; 4 Speed Trans.and this # also fits my 2004 Trailblazer 5.3L
Part # 12582437 Base Model; Trans.Code 4L60-E; TO Rear OF CRANKSHF; 4 Speed Trans.
So i would think that the second piece is for the torque tube. I would unbolt it and see what it looks like. Don't forget to check it for run out. It shouldn't have more than 1/8"
Thanks really appreciate the clarification, it's kind of like a coupler from the motor to the tq tube. For my install and mating the motor to a 4L60e I just need a flex plate or first part number that you listed.
Should be able ti just unbolt the outer plate and use the inner actual flex-plate. That is the first part # (12654640) which is the same part for a lot of LS engines.
The ATP part # is Z269 HD version Z498. The pioneer # is FRA471 & HD version is FRA471HD

Thanks for confirming. I was wondering if it was the same flex plate with the coupler removed. It appears to be pressed on over the guides, but I will see how willing it is to separate lol. I unbolted it and its on pretty good, but I didn't overly try to pry apart either.
