4l80e extremely slow filling After getting my transmission fixed, I am finally ready to fill it with fluid and start my car up. Here is where I run into a problem. Clearance is really tight so I'm running one of the braided style flexible dip sticks. I think it's just a Lokar knock off. So far, it's taken about 6 quarts and when I try to add more, it just slowly overflows from the dipstick and runs down. I even tried cracking a fitting on my cooler, and a bunch came out, but that didn't really help. I had to let it sit for hours to even get the 6 quarts in. This just seems insane.
Any ideas?

6 quarts is about all it is going to take until you start the engine. If you are worried about hurting the trans before you get if full start the engine and let it run for a minute and shut it off and then add more fluid. Fluid level has to be checked with engine running.

Interesting. In the past I have started with 8 quartz and was later told that even that amount could damage the transmission. Would just turning over the engine a bunch of times without starting it help?

If this is a dry rebuilt transmissions, I would want to get 10 quarts in before starting it.
I once tried a genuine Lokar trans dipstick and also found it frustratingly slow to fill. I therefore bought a new dipstick tube, an electrician's pipe bender and put in all the bends to make it fit my application.
