1995 4L80E smooth front planet?
The drum surface of all production 1995 4L80E front planet reaction carriers is for grooved bands correct? Or did the change from grooved to smooth occur in late 95 meaning some cases stamped with 95 can contain a front planet that takes a smooth band?
Also all front planets in a 95 untouched core designed for groove band surface are also going to contain a spacer that goes in it and a sprag that doesn't have the 8 legs on it correct?
Is there a possibility that a 95 untouched core could have a front planet designed for smooth band but also contain a spacer and a sprag that has no legs on it?
Im aware of the surface differences on the planets and reverse bands, just not sure when the changes took place? I’ve read 94 and earlier is grooved, 95 is grooved, late 95 is smooth….just trying to get some clarity on this.

95 was roughly when the change took place.
But remember...these cores are now almost 30 years old.
Most of them in hard working trucks/vans. It would be no surprise if any given core has been rebuilt in its life. Often requiring parts replacements.
So...if you find something that doesn't seem to match what GM would have released it with...that's OK
Just be mindful of the differences in pinion gear heights, sun gear tube changes, bearings, etc etc. get your clearances and endplays properly set and keep on movin
