Default Transbrake solenoid issues

Hello everyone,

my transbrake solenoid engages when i turn the key off.i can hear it click very shortly after turning the key off. When the key is on and I press the button, I can hear it click, then when I release the button I hear it click disengaging. Everything seems ok there. But then when I turn the key off, it clicks once again like it engaged.

Im not looking to burn up the solenoid.

The transbrake is wired in to a MSD solid state relay-
4 gauge power into the relay.
solenoid grounded to the frame
8 gauge power from the solenoid to relay
tbrake button ground and other wire to output with holley- output to ecu.

Does anyone have any idea where to start with this? I've never had a transbrake on a transmission before, but this doesn't seem right to me. Is power backfeeding from somewhere?

The vehicle is completely re wired with a master kill and overkill on all the wiring gauge. Everything else works fine. Has great voltage while running. Grounds are all new also.

I have had nothing but trouble running the brake noid on those MSD SSR relay bars. ended up moving my own back to a normal 5 pin bosch style relay.

for whatever reason, they seem to backfeed voltage across the bar and are really suceptible to noise, so move it away from the alternator.

also the high amp one seems less problematic than the low amp one. and the cheap off-brand "stinger" SSR bar is about useless as all heck

I've found that a "hella" solid state relay that will replace/fits in a "standard" 4 or 5 pin relay receptacle works better than the MSD for things like this

The MSD is fine for fans and fuel pumps etc but I also have seen backfeed issues and susceptibility to noise.

Thanks for the response guys. I guess I'll try using a standard relay. The MSD I have is the High current model. Was really wanting to use it for the simplicity and the fact they say it would protect the ecu from flyback. Guess I'll get a Bosch relay and the transbrake protection module from holley and give that a try.
