Default 24x and 4l60e

So I am swapping an LT1 into a 97 RS with the 24x conversion. I came across a thread by Frank in another forum that is well over 10 years old now, so maybe something has changed.

I had to do a lot of digging to find a tranny to bolt up, but I ended up with one out of a 95 b body the one off year. It was stated that for the 24x it had to be a 96-97 OBDII transmission or it would burn the clutches out prematurely.

I was going to rebuild the transmission, but that leaves me with questions.

Is there something that can be changed in the tune now to make this transmission work?

If not, can I swap the pump and valve body out of the 97 V6 to put into the 95 if compatible to make this work?

Or am I out of luck, and keep looking for an OBDII trans in those years? I only paid 250 for the trans so not a huge loss if that's the case, but no problem to tell why it takes years of experience to become well versed in trans tech.

All you need to do is use the 96 up 3-2 and PWM solenoid and will be fine , if you are rebuilding anyway, I would do the sonnax converter regulator valve and or use the spring from sonnax or some rebuild kits to make the TCC constant presure regulated to arround 100 to 120 PSI, The 3-2 regulator valve is typically pinned in performance builds , So really all you need is the right solenoids for your application and the 95 will be fine. Again just use the electronics that keep your OBD2 happy you will be good .

Appreciate the response, Frank! That sets my mind at ease.

So I will need these GM numbers PWM Solenoid 24227792 and 3-2 shift solenoid 24212327

I have already bought the Pioneer super kit, and the transgo HD2 shift kit.I am not sure if either of these have the upgraded spring to regulate the TCC pressure. SONNAX 7791710 is the spring you reference?
I've also picked up the upgraded sunshell and a new jegs corvette servo. Which makes me wonder if the servo parts in the shift kit are better quality and I should install those on the servo.

I am not going to be making horsepower much over stock, outside of a few small mods like headers, egr delete and electric water pump. But I did want to make the trans capable of handling a bit more HP in the future.

Only thing about the jegs and ebay corvette servo watch the teflon rings some are cut to short I noted use the OEM or DRINGS.

Thanks for the tips, I will do just that. I wasn't sure about the servo quality, I just went by reviews, and the price was reasonable.

'To be honest the servos themselves well actually look better and I put a stock one in my press (not scientific) the stock one withstood three pumps THEN BROKE the ebay one took 4 before it broke. i realize was just one test and not repeated but in the instance of that test the ebay vette servo was indeed the stronger of the two.
