Default Forgot 4l60e plastic thrust washer pump to stator

Finished putting the trans back into a 07 avalanche. Forgot the plastic thrust washer that goes between the pump and reverse drum. Has anybody not reinstalled this washer and been ok? I went back through my copy of a ATRA rebuild procedures by Cliff McCormick, and it left it out in the reinstall procedure.

Is this already in the vehicle and running and would be a giant pain to pull the trans and make this right?
Or what am I missing?
If it is on the bench...just pull the pump out, install the washer, and make it right. It's not hard to fix this issue.
It likely took longer to upload pics and make a forum post than it would have taken to pull the pump and correct the mistake.

Yes the trans is back in the truck and about half full with atf. Found the washer when I was cleaning up the garage after it got dark. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes that washer is IMO a must even though it really just serves as a bumper it will allow your rev drum to move alot . Maybe even enough to lose index of one of the rev input frictions. So sorry YES TAKE OUT AND INSTALL ! Now have I seen a trans run without one well yes one with considerable miles too all I noted was some scuffing of the rev drum and stator base. This was not one That I had built or any person I know just a core I once torn down but I highly DO NOT SUGGEST THIS.
Good Practice I do with every build is clean up imediatley after each build completed and I do actually take photos of every build too step by step for customers. But the side advantage is if i get this "did i do that panich attack! We all have had I can go back and reveiw photos.

A little work now
Or
A lot of work later

Seems like you knew the answer when you posted
Not trying to be a jerk. I think you were probably hoping someone would just say it'll be fine then you can move on.

Will it be fine? Probably. That washer hardly ever takes any abuse/wear. Indicating it's not really loaded hardly ever. BUT...it's there for a reason. To limit the travel of the drum.
So Is leaving it out right? Definitely not.
If you lose index of 1 reverse friction then it crashes into the input drum splines and makes a mess of things you'll have to pull the trans anyway...but it'll be a mess when it does happen. And who knows where you'll be when/if the problem occurs.

Do it now or roll the dice on dealing with it later
