Just installed a TH400 on a 2000 trans am, having a problem with the shifter/linkage. Thought I had the linkage installed correctly and took the car for a test drive and when I am in first it takes two shifts to hit second. Tried adjusting multiple times. Started the adjutment in 1st gear then park then went back to 1st and did each gear making sure the linkage swivel would slide in and out easily. The shifter came with the selector lever that goes in the transmission, does that have to be installed ? Any help is appreciated

Sounds like you have the 4 speed auto gate in the shifter . I know the megashifter you had a 3 speed and 4 speed gate . depending which trans you used .
