in the middle of my 4l80e rebuild. I'm curious what the proper method for removing the bushing that can't be pulled from the middle, kind of an outer bushing instead of an inner bushing. im probably gonna cut it unless anybody has any ideas. I do have a harbor freight bearing press. wish it was high enough to get at with a bearing puller plate but im not sure that's possible.
Need an arrow on your photo so we know what you're talking about.
From reading, it seems as though you're talking about the journal? That's not a bushing.
The bushing that rides there is in the center bore of the front planetary.
If your center support journal is chewed up...get a new center support.

i pushed the really long bushing out the middle, there's a bushing right there in the picture, thing strip of metal in a ring around the center support. i'll just cut it off.
That's not a replacable bushing is what I'm trying to tell you
It's a journal for the bushing that's in the front planet
If you attempt to cut it off...you're going to have a bad time...and you won't find a replacement
And by the looks of it...It's already chewed up and needs to be replaced...also it needs to be cleaned badly.

thanks much for that information. I haven't anything yet, so i will clean and see how damaged it looks. Maybe IF i finish pushing all new bushings in and there really looks like there's a replacement in my kit then i will investigate further but sounds like it's staying on, and i appreciate the warning of not removing it.
