Default 4l60e problems and questions

Hi All ,
New guy here from CT. Looking for some help and some answers/ suggestions.

I have a 4l60e . It operates on a standalone controller that can be played with from a laptop. This is in an old hot rod . It has a VSS on the tail shaft, and a TPS on the carb. It was a kit I purchased and installed 15 or so years ago . The supplier said it had a performance shift kit .

since day one it has had an issue . Put it in manual 1st and floor it and it will shift immediately into second gear. Lift off the gas a bit and it shifts back a to 1st.. if instead you stay in it and manually upshift to 2nd it acts like you put it in neutral. If you put it in drive or overdrive and floor it runs up through the gears perfectly.

Through testing I know that all of the electrical is working properly.
I have disconnected the linkage put it in first and same issue .

This was all 15 years ago. I got frustrated and just drove it the way it was. Probably put 50k on it .

recently dropped the pan to have a look. Fluid looks like new smells like new. Absolutely nothing the pan.

dropped the valve body . I see no evidence of a shift kit . Separator plate does not look to be drilled or modified. But I did notice the following:
#6 check ball is missing. This is the one next to the bathtub.
4th accumulator is in upside down without a spring on the case side , and the check ball next to it is missing.
all check ***** with the exception of #5 are Torlon.

my thought is to get something like a Trango SK kit and replace he missing ***** . I may not fix the original problem, but cold a last get it back on the road for the driving season.

Thoughts ?

thanks for looking
Gary

Nothing you mention would cause the issues you describe. Nor would the TG fix them Honeslt sounds like you have a tuning issue with the controller though i am not sure what the manaul tables would look like or possibly a bad TF PRESURE MANIFOILD SWICTH .

Default Eratic shifting

Might should consider the tcc solinoid lock up valve bleeding off i wouldnt think its the accumalators cause its common to leave the spring off to feel the shift more. But if the regulator was bleeding off pressure might be why its acting funny cause dont have pressure it needs tocontrol the shift unless it a shift valve. But myself agree it sounds like a tuning problem where you can set your pressures any way you want , has anyone that you know been in there and done any tuning.
