Transmission ID help

While someone like vorteciroc, who was a GM trans engineer, might be able to lookup that number, why not post more pictures, especially the front and side of the trans.

Well after a bit more research I can tell it does not. My truck is an 08 5.3 4x4 Avalanche, one of the two weird years that got the 4L70E with the ISS, and that tag is for a 4L65e that did not have an ISS. Will post a different thread on my trans issues to see if anyone can help diagnose.

This type of ID Tag is NOT a GM "Broadcast" Transmission Identification Tag that would normally be found on most Models of GM/ Hydra-Matic Transmission Assemblies.
For example, the THM400 and 4L80E Model Transmissions will have a GM/ Hydra-Matic "Broadcast" Transmission Identification Tag on the Case.
However, the THM700-R4 and 4L60E Model Transmissions will NOT have a GM/ Hydra-Matic "Broadcast" Transmission Identification Tag.
This is because these Models are Originally a Buick/ Chevrolet Engineering Design, and NOT a Hydra-Matic Design.
Anyway...
The ID Tag in the Image above is a GM SRTA ID TAG.
SRTA = Service Replacement Transmission Assembly.
Meaning the Transmission is NOT original to the Vehicle, it is a GM replacement Transmission Assembly.
Since the Transmission is NOT original to the Vehicle...
The Information on the SRTA ID Tag does not correspond to/ contain Original information pertaining to the Vehicle.
The ONLY pertinent information on that SRTA ID Tag, is that the Transmission was built to service a 2000 4L60E Model Transmission.
Now the question at hand is...
Would a 2000 4L60E be a properly compatible replacement for a 2008 4L70E?
...No.

I'm not one to argue much with an X GM transmission engineer but I see the tag differently. The green tag is a SRTA unit stamped 07KZ. That corresponds to a 2007 KZ unit and KZ is for a 4L65E. With that said I would still count the pins in the case connector to be sure it is 15 pins that corresponds to an ISS is inside. 2007 old body & 2007 new body got 2 different codes I have also had to open up 2 SRTA units with that code and neither one actually had 5 pinion planets... Both had short lives and had 3-4 clutch failure...

This Tag ONLY uses a Single Digit for the Year.
A Zero, shown at locations 17 and 19.
Definitely a 2000 Model Year.
Had it been a 2007 Core, the OP would have found the Transmission to have had an ISS.
The OP said it had no ISS.
