Default 4L60e question

I have a 2007 Chevrolet avalanche with the 5.3. My trans went out and Im 90% sure it’s a 4L60E I was wanting to see if I can replace it with a 4L65E and not have to reprogram it? Also would it be easy enough for me to rebuild the trans with out any type of specialty tools?

4L65E will work.

You'll need specialty tools for it. Watch a youtube vid, you'll see what's involved.

Specialty tools and specialty skills. If your valve body needs reaming for a bushing to go in, it can easily be damaged beyond repair during this operation if not care is not taken.

Can you rebuild it?? sure, will it save you money or work well questionable, Between tools parts and typical failures on a first build you are likely to spend more than just having someone do it or ordering one.
2007 AND 2008 are UNIQUE you can swap any other 2007 or 2008 4l6x 4l70e in but no others without mods and or TCM program changes.
