4l80e won’t shift into overdrive
the reason I am making this post is because I just had my 4l80e rebuilt and a 3200 stall put on my 95 Chevy, I decided to do a baby pull a little bit after I got it back from the shop because my mechanic told me about how hard it shifts into overdrive now and how fun it is.
However once I got onto the highway got to 50mph and then hit it I could feel a difference in the acceleration until I got to about 85-90 and then it started to feel like I was flat lining so I expected it to shift at that point but it didn’t, and my rpms kept increasing and my speed was still increasing but very slowly once I got to 100 and still no shift I let off the gas, I then tried a couple more pulls at various speeds and never felt a shift into OD.
Once I got home I texted my mechanic and he said “let off the gas when you feel like you get to the point where it should shift and that should make it shift, if it does not we may have to change the shift points.”, I am going to try what he said tonight and see if it works, if it does is that normal to have to let off of WOT to shift into OD? Considering the 4l80e is an automatic transmission my brain tells me no, but I know nothing about transmissions.
It is behind a cammed Lq4 that used to throw me back in my seat, before I got my trans rebuilt, so I know I have a lot more power left in the tank.
I appreciate any and all feed back, and I will try my best to answer any questions.
