Default What can i do to this 4L80E?

Hey Everyone,

Soon I will finally have time to start building my transmission. I am planning on puttinga turbo on the 6.0 that I have that came with the 4L80E. Goal is to get a 10 sec car with a 10k budget, so money is an issue. I am $800 into the budget already from buying the engine, transmission, gas pedal, and wiring. Planning to get a Jake's Stage 2 rebuild kit, plus a Transgo shift kit. I have read about the dual feed mod, but I haven't really found any kind of kit that I can get to get it done.

Is there anything else you would think I would need? I need to figure out where I am going to be with the turbo/cam before I think about what converter to get.

When you buy your Jake's rebuild kit but his recalibration kit too it's better than that transgo **** kit.

I agree with @91 Z28 when you buy Jakes stage 2 kit you can get his recal kit for only $50 extra. Just look at the drop down choices.

That is true but then he will need to know how to dual feed the direct clutch without the plate.

Other than the Intended Cross-Leak in the TransGo Separator-Plate...

Far too often there are also Unintended Cross-Leaks in the TransGo Separator-Plate.
They really are either Junk all together or just a poorly designed Component.

My Father used to say that it baffled him how TransGo could have actual great data and modifications for some Units, like the THM200-4R and THM700-R4.
Then on the other hand have borderline terrible products for the 4L80E and some other Units.

i'm almost at final assembly of my first 4l80e rebuild. i can't speak for the jakes performance stuff but dual feeding is simple, plug the hole in the case, i found a 10mm thread cutter fit perfect and i cut down a 10mm bolt to loctite in there. some say plug the center support witha ball bearing instead of plugging the case but both work. the seal in the direct drum needs to be uninstalled and a seal on the center support is left off. to ensure fluid flow me and some others ground off the seal support grooves on that part of the center support. and i think the only last thing is that you either have to buy a sonnax pump piston thingy with a hole in it or you can drill a hole in the pump yourself. sorry im not explaining stuff too well there are plenty of write ups on how to dual feed. a lot of people leave out the pushing plate and putin 6 clutches and steels in the third/direct drum. the last steel in the direct drum is the top cap and i had to sand mine down a little to maintain sufficient clutch freeplay but a piece of glass and some glue and sandpaper and a few minutes of rubbing and i was in spec. which was good for me cause that was lightly gouged anyway and it cleaned up a lot. i wish i had a lathe, i'd "do" a lot more things to my transmission, like rollerized bearings throughout, maybe next time. good luck!
