I had one come to me, the guy told me it was fixed several times in less than a year and 3-4 kept burning. The “builder” had added every shift kit and valve and “fix” to it to make it have more pressure and shift harder in an effort to fix the 3-4 from burning. Cause? Leaking input shaft. I checked it, leaked badly. It’s been doing fine for quite some time now.
I was waiting for you to say he cranked on the EPC screw lol

Its good practice for sure because you cant tell if someone has been monkeying with it. Especially for $20 Rostra

I ran into this a while back with a local stock rebuild cheapie favor. Got done . customer installs and bam bam its shifted hard. He did a presure test idle 135 lol give just a little throttl 200 plus , Gave him a new EPC and all fixed. . You never know, I replace them in most builds but this was a favor for someone "in need" "disabled fixed income" But yes with those you never know, I did make a tester for them but rarely use it as i just replace them as a matter of doing it . As with many things I have just started replacing and fixing rather than test as i found MOST stuff you test Is indeed a problem and just fixing the issue leaks or whatever on all is less time consuming and costly than test then fix .

Speaking of the adjusting screw on the EPC solenoid. What is the reason its there? I mean, obviously its adjustable but in what case would you utilize this?

Its used in calibration, of course new is calibrated but it can also be used to make small ajustements . Like some buiders are dead set on no more than 220 psi max well lets say on a dyno you get 230 , you could ajjust down a little. Or with a base calibration as a model I could get out my homelade tester and calibrate one that was messed with to operate a certain rang in a given currect range. But mostly some turn them up just to get a litle firmer shift or to hide a slippy shift
