Default HELP! Need opinion ASAP 6L80

Hi all, having major issues in my 2018 Yukon 5.3 6l80 See pic of pan. I know the converter is bad and I have another ne converter in front of me. Should i risk swapping converter and try to get some miles out of it or go straight to rebuild? $400 vs $4000. Trans still shifts, but def having issues.

That is a tough call. Is the filter plugged up? See if you can pry it apart

I am going to pull it tomorrow and see. I am willing to bet it is clogged. My gut feeling is too slap the converter in it, run it a little, and change filter/ fluid again quickly, if it survives.

Based on what I've seen, when the converter goes out on a 6LXX, it takes a bunch of other parts with it. It spreads metal and clutch material throughout the transmission.

If you've already got the trans out, open it up and tell us what you find. 6LXX trannies are actually easier to build than a 4L60.

Yeah, all of that converter material goes through the pump and really sores it up. If you don't mind buying another converter when the trans fails, then go for it. All you have to lose is the money you have in the new converter and fluid and filter.

That question really depends on how you use and funds available as of now. You didn't say what happened to stock converter I've seen more metal and I've seen less some survive and some don't it really is the luck of the draw. If it were a customers I'd push them towards replacement but in the end it's their call. Rebuild you have a warranty if they choose the other way it's all on them 0 warranty and I told ya so.

If its just a dd grocery gitter for momma you can't go wrong with GM rebuilt the damm warranty is hard to beat 3 years 100K miles nationwide at any GM dealer and in last 30 years I've only had a couple duds but GM took care of me so it minimized my customers downtime. If it's driven like a 5000 lb camaro a performance rebuild and tune is the better way.
