A stock build 4L80E will handle 600-800hp, they cost around $2200 for a decent build with a dual fed direct clutch.
A 4L60E build for 400hp is around $1800.
So for an extra $400 you can have some wiggle room for add-ons & upgrades and no worries for the current transmission.
Or you could do @FranksCustomTrans Stage 2 4L60E build thats good for up to 750HP. He posted his build list in this thread post #6.

Sounds like a stock 6.0L and the GM used the 4L65E in the lighter vehicles. I usually call the difference between 4L60E & the 4L80E at the 600hp mark.
A stock build 4L80E will handle 600-800hp, they cost around $2200 for a decent build with a dual fed direct clutch.
A 4L60E build for 400hp is around $1800.
