Default Transmission Swap Help

I have a recently purchased a 2000 Camaro Z28 with a bad transmission. I also have a 2002 Pontiac Firebird V6 with a 3800 that spews oil out of any possible crevice. I was planning on just having the the Camaro's Trans rebuilt but I was wondering if the Firebird's transmission could be put into the camaro. I know the bellhousing, input shaft and out put shaft but ive heard about electrical and physical differences between thouse few years. Would this be possible?

BELL .SHAFT, STATOR ARE DIFFERENT. Some have an aluminum fwd apply plate in the V6 not sure that really matters though. Pretty much thats it , I have used them and swapped to make either the other. Its the V6 unit that is actually the more rare.

My opinion is that if you have to go in that deep to make it work, why not just rebuild the OG trans.

IMHO, about 65% of the effort of rebuilding the entire trans. The input shaft is part of the input drum which contains the forward, overrun and 3/4 clutches and their pistons. Since your 2000 trans is bad, you cannot just swap the entire input drum in as that likely is worn out. Next the stator shaft is tightly bolted (and pressed?) into the pump assembly; even pros has problems replacing a stator shaft and having it EXACTLY square with the pump. Better would be to just buy a 300mm pump. Any time you open a 25 year old trans, its a slippery slope which often leads to a complete rebuild.
