Stall converter HELP !!
I have a built 383 Ls with a gtx-3582 turbo, my camshaft is the Richard Holdener Truck plus cam (585/585) and my vehicle is a 2008 GMC Yukon XL 4x4. I do tow occasionally but other than that this is my daily.
Normally I think everyone puts turbos that are too big on daily drivers. This is finally a case where I can say you went too small. That turbo on a 383 should be in boost as soon as you open the throttle at almost any engine speed, but it will choke out very quickly. You may want to rethink this before buying a stall, since spool up is one of the things that determine what stall you want.
Ok I hear you. I was think that I wanted that immediate boost. I plan to only tun 5-10 psi because is my daily . Wanted all the power at the 2500-5500 rpm that this engine will live in. My initial thoughts where a billet wheel Gt45
I am on board with that line of thinking completely. However, you went just a bit too far. I start making boost around 3000rpm with a manual transmission 5.7L with TWO 3582 turbos. My neighbor has a 67mm garret clone on his lq9 6L, and can get into boost just brake stalling it. Your 6.3L will need a bit bigger. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly where a little bigger will be too big.
I would go with a stock diameter later model "high stall" which will be roughly 2200 -2400 in your application. A billet cover would be ideal for towing while locked. PM me if you need help sourcing one.
