Replace or reuse? -
Two are flawless, but the other two have visible wobble. Surprisingly the end play is within spec all round (worst is 19 thou. Spec is 8 to 24).

The guides I'm using all say to replace if there is "any rocking motion". However it's not clear what the consequences of not doing this are. A little noise and excess heat or total destruction?

Only needs to do another 50k. Low power, 20 year old vehicle etc. etc.

Slim pickings on ebay. Most marked "remanufactured" are actually just "cleaned and inspected" if you read the description.

 

The third one you grabbed, I wouldnt reused it if it was on my bench

 

If one of those needle bearings comes out from behind the gear, it will destroy at the very least all three pieces of that gear set. The damage most likely will take out more than just the gears because all that metal is being pumped throughout the whole transmission.

replace plain an simple any visual wobble is not acceptable.

 

Thanks all. Used/inspected part on order. Will verify no wobble when it gets here.
