Default Need some help and guidance on first 4l80e build.

Hello everybody,

I've been reading and watching loads and loads of posts and video's on rebuilding and upgrading my trans.

I am planning on putting the trans in a c3 corvette with a 383 sbc with around 450hp, I have a circle-d torque converter 2600-2800 stall which they recommended .
The car is going to be used only on the street, spirited driving but no track racing so preferably no bang shifting...

I did all the lube upgrades thru the transmission and double feeding upgrades, upgraded all the valves in the pump and VB with sonnax parts.

Now I am at the valve plate and am getting confused with all the different recommendations. I will be blocking off the 3&4 accumulator and putting a cup in the reverse passage as I read almost everybody does this and has more advantages than disadvantages.

1. Now do I put loctite on the cup when installing or just push it in like that ?

2. I have a new GM 24204272 separator plate, what size of holes should I drill for the 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 shift holes. I was going to go ,093 for 1-2 and 2-3 and go ,082 for the 4th . Do these numbers seem ok as I read that blocking off 3&4 accumulators the holes need to be bigger...

3. I have the Sonnax imidized check ***** but which ones can or do I need to leave out ?

Thanks for any help.

Locktite not needed on the plug, hole sizes I would go .093 2ND, .093 3RD and ,083 on 4th,
Reason unless you changed the spring in the VB accum 2nd acumulation will remain stock. While your blockoff does stop the 3rd accum from functioning you have also added considerable area to fill so that should more or less zero that one out with .093 . 4TH has accum blocked also but no additional area so a large feed might be uncomfortable harsh for a shift that commonly goes in and out thus reason i would stay close to stock size here.
Others may have different thoughts but this is what has worked out for me over the years,
