I think I'd go with a fully build 350 (it'll take the power and won't rob too much power if it's got all the good stuff) with a 2.75 1st. Make up for the lack of OD with some 3.23 gears. The 2.75 1st will get you out of the hole and the 3.23s will make it nice on the highway. You'll have a final drive in 1st of 8.88 which will be fine if you have some good power. Your final drive with a 1.8 PG and 4.56s would be only 8.2. Advantage, TH350. Your final drive in OD with the PG/GVOD/4.56 combo will be 3.55. It would of course be 3.23 with the TH350/3.23 combo. Advantage, TH350. The only andvantages the PG would have would be efficiency and weight. I'm pretty sure the weight issue is nullified by the GVOD and the efficiency issue might be as well.

Question Powerglide Shifter

What shifters have been found to be solid quality as well as look nice in an F-Body?

Those that I have seen belong in a dragster...
