Default converter question
I just installed my TCI 3800 stall converter and Im wondering, why are my shifts soft now? I had them firm befor the install. what happend?

The higher the stall speed is the less "tight" the coupling is at lower RPM.

This is GOOD.

Harsh jolting shifts are hell on hard parts. The converter is preserving the hard parts while the friction materials still have the benefit of rapid engagement.

Shifts will feel less harsh at high speed and power too.

since you have an 02. you might be experiencing Torque Management kicking in. for 01-02 cars that have aftermarket TC's TM does come into play. you might want to get WOT TM deleted.

Don't a lot of you guys buy shift kits, and have them installed at the same time as the TC? I'm still shopping for my TC, so I'm interested in the posters question too.
