Need some input picking tranny!
My T-56 is "hammered" and looks like its going to need a rebuild. Im tired of having trouble shifting the damn thing anyhow, and this is the third time Ive had a problem with it, so I was contemplating a TH400 or other options.I did some reading, but what I dont see a lot of is information on how streetable these trannies are. I need to be able to drive the car on the road, and although it wont be my daily driver, I dont have a trailer and have been driving 2.5 hrs at various times to get to the different tracks. I dont want to be taching 4k rpm the entire trip. Current rear end gears are 4.11s, which Im certain I will have to change (and I will so miss the whining noise that accompanies them). How about the rest of it, any feedback on streetability of a TH400 or another option would be appreciated.
TH400/TH350 great for track, wont break if built right, but gonna be hard to drive at a normal rpm on the higway
T-56, great for the street, sucks for me at the track, even built ones dotn seem to hold up really well
200r4 -- looks great, but starting at about $4500, it should look great.
Is it impossible to have a really fast streetable tranny?
