Default Trans temp sender?

Where should it be for the best reading. Side the the tranny in one of the ports or should it be in the pan?

It really doesn't matter IMO, just so long as it is not on the return line from the cooler (false reading). Now if you were installing a pressure gauge, then I would definately place it on the capped port on the driver's side of the trans.

Since the pressure tap is already there, use it. Putting it in the pan requires drilling a hole and then sealing off the fitting so it doesn't drip.

I'm in the process of installing a mechanical trans temp gauge, It looks like the pressure port on the side is to small for the bung that is included. Do I have to drill the pan or get an adaptor to put it in the side?
