I read people say to get a tune after they have got their converter or other mods, installed in thier car. But when you speak of a tune, do you mean a tune-up or tune the pcm for the extra power, shifts, etc? Thanks, in advance.
That depends. After something like gears/converter it is as stated above...lockup, TM, shift points, etc. A REAL tune, though, is a full on dyno tune. A dyno tune included all the little changes as well as adjustment of such things as the air-fuel ration and timing. To realize the power potential of major mods (headers, CAM, heads, etc) it is necessary to have the car tuned. For cams, it is sometimes a must in order for the car to even be driveable.
